The Peachtree Parkway Pedestrian Bridge

The Peachtree Parkway Pedestrian Bridge stands approximately 45 feet high and 14 feet wide, featuring a 190-foot-long truss arch that crosses S.R. 141 (Peachtree Parkway), a four-lane highway with an average daily traffic volume of 42,000 vehicles. This new bridge enhances pedestrian safety and connectivity between two major retail developments, Town Center and The Forum.

United Consulting was requested by the design firm to provide bridge foundation recommendations. We conducted to Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings at each bent location and summarized our findings in a bridge foundation investigation (BFI) report in general conformance with GDOT guidelines. Our report provided recommendations for the parameters required for driven steel H-piles along with the expected required depth. We also conducted a Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) survey for the site.

United Consulting provided construction materials testing and special inspections necessary for construction and erection of the bridge. Full-time inspections on all critical components, including deep-driven foundations, structural steel bolts and welds were performed. Our team of experts’ optimized approach, timely testing services, and the execution of multiple tests and inspections while onsite effectively minimized site visits and reduced overall service costs.
