Morris Brown College Griffin Hightower Hall
Morris Brown College engaged United Consulting to evaluate the feasibility of converting a portion of Griffin Hightower Hall into a hotel. The existing building comprised three wings, with plans to demolish two. The 29,000 square foot remaining three-story wing was designated to be repurposed, and a new parking garage was constructed as part of the project.
Our experts conducted a Phase I Environmental Assessment, Hazardous Materials Survey, Structural Evaluation, preliminary Geotechnical Exploration, and a lead paint and asbestos survey. Previously used as a medical school, the building was shuttered upon closure, with equipment, supplies, and stored furniture limiting accessibility. Despite these challenges, United Consulting successfully inventoried chemicals and completed the structural evaluation, providing Morris Brown with the information needed to assess the property’s conversion feasibility.
