Fulton County Schools Asbestos Containing Materials Testing

United Consulting conducted limited sampling for Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACM) prior to planned renovations across 38 Fulton County schools. The scope of renovations varied by location and included the replacement of select vinyl floor tiles, mechanical equipment, roof drains, gutters, specific roofing materials, and fire alarm system replacements, which required sampling.

Our team of accredited asbestos inspectors performed the limited asbestos surveys in accordance with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) and coordinated with maintenance staff at each school to minimize disruption. Bulk sampling was conducted in conformance with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s), Guidance for Controlling Asbestos-Containing Materials in Buildings (EPA 560/5-85-024, 1985). We conducted surveys to collect and evaluate representative samples of common building materials for asbestos fibers at the project sites. This assessment was necessary to identify materials that may require abatement or proper management before renovations could commence.

We completed a final report for each school, detailing the planned renovations, sampling methodology, sample locations, laboratory results, and evaluations. The reports were submitted on time and within budget.
