Gwinnett Technical College Renovation and Addition
Gwinnett Technical College’s construction and renovation project includes a three-story, 82,000-square-foot facility dedicated to computer information systems, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies; the creation of a new “quad” area; the renovation and expansion of the “One-Stop” area; a new library entrance with additional computer stations; the establishment of the Center for Teaching Excellence; and a modernized facelift for the Student Life Center.
United Consulting participated in pre-construction meetings, conducted construction materials testing and special inspections. While the building featured typical three-story steel frame construction, site improvements required extensive remediation of parking areas and the installation of an underground stormwater management system. All tests and inspections were performed in accordance with the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) standards, ensuring the contractor’s work complied with project plans and specifications. Special attention was given to identifying deficiencies, which were promptly communicated to the Superintendent both verbally and through formal reports. Any unresolved issues were documented and logged to ensure proper tracking and follow-up.
The clear identification of critical construction areas by United Consulting’s team of experts minimized potential delays from corrections and retesting. Accurate documentation and timely reporting provided the construction and design teams with valuable insights, helping to save time and additional construction costs.
