The dirt- APRIL 2026 – volume 1 – issue 4

Hi United Consulting Community,

I am excited to welcome you to Volume 1, Issue 4 of our newsletter, The Dirt.

Whether you’re a client, partner, industry peer, or future collaborator, The Dirt is your insider guide to the world of engineering, including the latest industry trends, awards, promotions, project highlights, company news, and government regulations that impact our work.

Keep your eyes peeled! When we dig up interesting news, you’ll get “the dirt” with no filler.

United Consulting has introduced a new service, “Building Enclosure Consulting and Testing,” formerly known in the industry as “Building Envelope.” This addition marks the sixth service in our carefully curated portfolio, solidifying our position as a true one-stop shop for all our clients’ project needs.

Together, these services, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Consulting, Construction Materials Testing, Special Inspections, and Automated Instrumentation, create a powerful combination. This comprehensive approach allows us to continue driving our mission to lead the market while delivering comprehensive solutions with excellence and innovation.

Building Enclosure Consulting and Testing not only helps our clients feel confident that their projects are protected and in good hands, but it also helps them with cost savings by preventing possible future negative external factors from damaging the assets inside a building. Through our client-centric approach and philosophy, we aim to ensure that we are involved in every project with the same care and attention to detail. By anticipating challenges before they become costly issues, we deliver protection that lasts well beyond project completion.

Randy Rule, BECxP Vice President and Building Enclosure Commissioning Provider with an extensive experience record, has joined United Consulting’s mission to deliver quality service at the highest standards in the market.

“Building Enclosure Consulting and Testing services include everything in a vertical construction project that is on the outside of the building, from waterproofing at the footers of the foundation all the way up to the roofing system. This includes walls, windows, doors, air barrier and waterproofing system components,” said Randy Rule in an interview.

The goal of Building Enclosure Consulting and Testing Services is to ensure that exterior weather elements do not enter the building, causing issues with interior finishes and personnel. A helpful way to understand this is to view Building Enclosure as extending beyond the structure itself, serving as a protective layer for all assets, people, and systems. It is essential not only for the safety and preservation of the structure but also for its sustainability and longevity, ultimately supporting the well-being of everyone inside.

Our new services also include total building enclosure commissioning. A common misconception is that this term BE Commissioning is interchangeable with Building Commissioning. However, this is not the case, since Building Enclosure focuses only on the exterior systems that protect a structure rather than the systems inside it.

“Building Enclosure Consulting and Testing Services is about carefully observing building’s exterior construction in order to verify its proper assembly to assure long term and maximum performance of the building,” Randy explained on our service interview.

Randy firmly believes that working with our clients as true partner, identifying issues early, adjusting course when needed, and delivering the best building possible always enhances the overall client experience. It is how we consistently go above and beyond.

At United Consulting, we do not just say it, we mean it. Let’s work together. We’re here for you!
